Terrence Burns is a world-renowned sports consultant known for his work with the Olympics since the early 1990s, having been involved in all aspects of the Olympics business as sponsor, rights holder and consultant to bidding cities and nations.

He was overseen successful Olympic bids for five host cities – Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014, PyeongChang 2018 and LA 2028. He also was also brand strategist for Russia’s successful 2018 FIFA World Cup bid

His consulting agency was acquired by Bruin Sports Capital-funded experiential agency Engine Shop at the beginning of 2018 and helping establish them as a significant player in global sports marketing and sponsorship.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Javier Tebas Medrano

La Liga

Javier Tebas Medrano became the President of La Liga in April 2013, having previously served as Vice President and as a member of the league’s Executive Committee. Prior to that he had been President of the Spanish football club SD Huesca.

He has been a practising lawyer since 1987. He has served as legal advisor to several Spanish and foreign clubs and sports entities and serves on the boards of several national and international associations. He also teaches master’s degree courses on sport and commerce.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Charlie Stillitano

Executive Chairman
Relevent Sports

Charlie Stillitano is an experienced sports executive and broadcaster, having spent the majority of his career working in the soccer industry.

At the 1994 World Cup he was venue director for the Giants Stadium. He was later appointed general manager of MLS team New York/New Jersey MetroStars in 1996.

As Executive Chairman of Relevent Sports, he works with international soccer properties to help build their presence in the United States. Notably the company organizes the International Champions Cup, a high-profile soccer exhibition competition, which this year featured the likes of Manchester City, Barcelona and Juventus.

Victor Montagliani

FIFA Vice President and CONCACAF President
With a lifelong commitment to football, as a player and administrator Victor Montagliani’s passion for the game has led him to become a leader within the sport. Montagliani was elected CONCACAF President and FIFA Vice President in May 2016 in CONCACAF’s XXXI Ordinary Congress held in Mexico City, Mexico. He also serves as Chairman of the FIFA Football Stakeholders Committee.

Montagliani served as President of the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) until May 2017. In addition to his vast knowledge and experience within the game, Montagliani has concluded studies in Political Science, Public Administration, French and Spanish.

Robert Klein

Bundesliga International

Robert Klein joined Bundesliga International in May 2017 as Chief Commercial Officer. In January 2018, he took over the role as Chief Executive Officer driving the international position of the Bundesliga as one of the most innovative and exciting football leagues globally.

Before his career at Bundesliga International Robert was heading the Sports Rights department at Red Bull Media House responsibile for growing the company’s global sports portfolio. Previous to Red Bull Media House he worked as Executive Director for International Sports Multimedia (ISM), UEFA New Media and NBA Europe Events. He holds a Masters Degree in Leisure Policy and Planning from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.

Michele Uva

Vice President / CEO
UEFA / Italian Football Federation

Michele Uva is a highly experienced and respected sports administrator, with a 30-year career spanning several sports organizations.

He is currently CEO of the Italian Football Federation, which oversees the Italian domestic leagues and national team. Since 2017 he has also been a UEFA Vice President.

He previously held leadership positions at some of Italy’s most prestigious clubs including Parma and Lazio. He is also an associate professor at the University of Foro Italico in Rome and frequently lectures but in Italy and abroad.

Lara Price

Chief Operating Officer
Philadelphia 76ers

In her position as Chief Operating Officer, Lara Price oversees the Philadelphia 76ers Business Operations, Corporate and Team Communications and Public Relations and renowned Community Engagement arms for one of the National Basketball Association’s most storied franchises. With 20-plus years of NBA experience, Price acts as the team’s primary intermediary with the league office and is the key liaison between the 76ers business and basketball arms of the organization.

Price played a critical role in the development of the Philadelphia 76ers Training Complex located in Camden, New Jersey. The 150,000-square-foot facility is home to the 76ers basketball and business operations, and the largest and most technically advanced training facility in professional sports.

In 1998, Price became one of the first female Vice Presidents in the NBA. She is a 2015 honoree of the revered Women in Sports & Events (WISE) Woman of the Year Award, which recognizes female leaders who have made a significant impact in the business of sports.

Sandy Brown

Major League Lacrosse

Alexander “Sandy” Brown is the commissioner of Major League Lacrosse. He is the second commissioner in the 18-year history of the league.

Brown, who joined the MLL in February 2018, is an accomplished executive with over 20 years of leadership experience, including spearheading the launch and growth of multiple sports media outlets. He was the President/CEO of One World Sports, where he launched the HD channel across both linear and digital platforms to over 50 million subscribers through cable and satellite distributors as well as over-the-top (OTT) platforms. In 2010, Brown became President of Univision Sports, the leading media outlet for Spanish-speaking Americans. He created and launched Univision Deportes to over 15 million homes and developed multi-platform programming. Additionally, Brown oversaw the rebranding of Univision Sports, and as well, the production of the highest rated primetime sports broadcast in the channel’s history at the time with the Mexico vs. Honduras match in the 2011 Gold Cup.

Brown also has extensive experience in international markets. Based in Hong Kong and Singapore, he was the managing director of both ESPN Asia and ESPN Star Sports. His international work in sports began in the late 1980s when the NBA hired him to oversee international television interests in over 100 countries.

Brown played lacrosse collegiately at Washington and Lee University and represented the university in the 1985 USILA North South Game.

Chip Bowers

President of Business Operations
Miami Marlins

Chip Bowers is a highly experienced sports executive having worked extensively in both the MLB and NBA. He currently leads business operations for the Derek Jeter-owned Miami Marlins, overseeing media and sponsorship rights, as well as the Marlins’ fan engagement strategy.

Chip was previously Chief Marketing Officer at the Golden State Warriors where the franchise experienced both on and off-court success, including winning seven awards at the 2014 NBA Sales and Marketing meetings. He played a leading role in signing the Chase Center sponsorship agreement – the Warriors’ new home in San Francisco.

Chip has also held roles at the Orlando Magic, Seattle SuperSonics and San Diego Padres.

Keith Bruce

QuintEvents International and Formula 1 Experiences

Keith Bruce was named President of QuintEvents International in July, 2017.

A newly-formed unit of QuintEvents LLC, America’s industry-leading sports travel/event/experience company, QuintEvents International houses the company’s Formula One business. Bruce, a veteran of the sports and event industry, leads the new Formula One Experiences organization serving as President, working with all 21 F1 events across the globe. Bruce also leads all sales and marketing efforts for all QuintEvents International properties.

Prior to joining QuintEvents International, Bruce served as CEO of the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee in San Francisco, where he was responsible for the overall marketing, fan experience, operations and event delivery for Super Bowl 50 at Levi’s Stadium. Bruce is also a veteran of international sport, handling sponsor activation and global hospitality sales and management for six Olympic Games, three FIFA World Cups and the America’s Cup while President of SportsMark from 2005-2013.

Angela Ruggiero

CEO and Co-Founder

Angela Ruggiero is a leading figure in the sports world, having served as an administrator, elite athlete, educator, advisor, board member, and investor in the world of sport.

She is the CEO and Co-Founder of the Sports Innovation Lab, a technology and data powered market research firm focused on the intersection of sports and innovation- with a focus on identifying trends and evaluating technology products and services that will drive the future of sport.

Olympic Gold Medalist and member of the Hockey Hall of Fame with leadership positions at the highest levels of sport, including the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee, Angela guides the strategies of major sports organizations.

Simon Greenberg

Global Head of Rights
News Corp / Dow Jones Sport

Simon Greenberg is Global Head of Rights for News Corp and Head of Dow Jones Sport. For the majority of Simon’s career, he has worked in sports related roles, starting as a sports journalist for national newspapers in the UK before he became Communications and Public Affairs Director for Chelsea Football Club in 2004.

In 2009, Simon became Chief of Staff of England’s 2018 FIFA World Cup bid before joining News International, now News UK, News Corp’s UK newspaper subsidiary, which owns The Sun, The Times and the Sunday Times. He subsequently joined the parent company in 2011.

He created the Dow Jones Sports Intelligence business, the first due diligence service tailored to the sports industry and is currently leading News Corp’s strategy on US sports betting. Simon is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.

Dr Laila Mintas

Deputy President
Sportradar, US

Dr. Mintas oversees Sportradar’s operations in the US and is a global thought leader on sports betting legislation, regulation and sports integrity. A lawyer by trade, Laila previously worked several years at the international law firm White & Case LLP in Berlin, Germany and specialized i.a. in Sports Law and Gambling, Compliance and Litigation. She wrote her Ph.D. in Betting via the Internet which became a well-recognized book in its field.

Previously, she was the Head of Legal and Head of International Development for FIFA’s Early Warning System (FIFA EWS) in Zurich, Switzerland and Director of Sports Integrity at CONCACAF, the governing body for Soccer in North America, Central America and Caribbean being responsible for all 41-member countries including the US, Canada and Mexico.

At CONCACAF, she used data to prevent match manipulations in matches that were linked to the betting market. Since 2009, she has published a significant number of law articles in the top academic and professional journals about sports betting and sports law and has lectured at the Humboldt University of Berlin and Columbia University in New York where she is a Professor for Global Sports Law. Laila is Board member of the ‘World Sports Advocate’ and has her own Sports Law Column at InsideWorldFootball.com.

Dan Markham

Daniel Markham joined beIN MEDIA GROUP in July 2014 and is Executive Director of Content for the global sports and entertainment group, responsible for content acquisition and group strategy. He is also the
Managing Director of beIN MEDIA GROUP’s UK business.Daniel joined beIN’s senior management team from the National Basketball Association (NBA), where he held a variety of roles including Senior Vice President of Media Distribution, Managing Director for emerging markets in EMEA as well as being the NBA’s joint head of that region.

Having worked for almost 25 years in senior positions across a range of rights holders, governing bodies, broadcasters and sports marketing consultancies, Daniel is one of the most experienced and highly regarded executives in the sports and entertainment industry.

John Gleasure

John is one of the founders of Perform and is currently the Chief Strategy Officer of DAZN and Perform Group. Over the past 11 years, John has overseen all Commercial Partnerships and Rights relationships and its international expansion across the globe.

John has over 23 years’ experience within the sports, entertainment and music business, having previously spent time at Sky Sports, EMI Records, Hutchinson Whampoa and Sony Pictures.

Guy-Laurent Epstein

UEFA Events

Guy-Laurent Epstein is the Marketing Director of UEFA Events S.A. set up in 2009 as a wholly owned UEFA subsidiary company; it manages the marketing and commercial interests of UEFA.

In 2002, Guy-Laurent joined UEFA as TV & Sponsorship Manager and soon became Head of Marketing Activities. In 2005, he created the Media Rights unit which is responsible for the overall sales of broadcast rights for UEFA competitions. Thereafter in 2010, he was appointed Marketing Director, responsible for the on-going development of all marketing and commercial activities, including brand, media and sponsorship, across all UEFA competitions.

Guy-Laurent previously worked on the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France before joining ISL Marketing where he was responsible for the licensing and merchandising for the 2002 FIFA World Cup held in South Korea and Japan.

Laura Froelich

Senior Director, Head of U.S. Content Partnerships

Laura leads U.S. Content Partnerships at Twitter, bringing exceptional content from Sports, News and Entertainment publishers to the most receptive audiences in real time, while driving reach and revenue for these strategic partners and Twitter.

Prior to joining Twitter in February 2014, she spent five years at CBS Interactive devising product marketing and monetization strategies for premium sports content including NCAA March Madness, NFL and college football, The Masters, PGA Tour golf, as well as the suite of fantasy games from CBSSports.com. Her efforts led to multiple years of record-setting revenues for the properties.

Wayne Sieve

Wayne Sieve is Executive Vice President at Thuuz Sports, an AI-based metadata and content curation platform for Sports content distributors. In this role, he oversees all commercial relationships including those with leagues, media networks, and production companies.

A native of Silicon Valley, Wayne has worked at the intersection of sports, media, and technology for the past 22 years with executive roles at EverSport, Ustream, 5to1, Yahoo, and Foote, Cone, and Belding. During his tenure, he has worked closely with a variety of professional leagues, player associations, media networks, agencies, governing bodies, athletes, and content creators.

Wayne earned a B.S. from Arizona State University and M.B.A. from the University of Oregon.

Brian Josephs

Vice President, Digital Sport

Brian leads sales and account management across Sportradar’s media, technology and brand clients in North America. In this role, Brian is responsible for leading client engagements that leverage Sportradar’s data, product, and advanced analytics expertise to create engaging consumer experiences.

Before Sportradar, Brian spent five years as an Account Director at Nielsen Sports, formerly Repucom. In that role, he was responsible for sales and account management across their NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB league and team clients.

Brian attended Georgetown University where he was a student-athlete and earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Marketing and Management.

Will Brass

As the Premier League’s Head of Sales and Marketing, Will Brass is responsible for both brand and business development, including commercial partnerships.

Will started his career as a lawyer before working at Rothschild as an adviser to various European football clubs, experience which led to him joining Tottenham Hotspur as Head of Business Development. He subsequently represented the interests of various high profile sports team and talent clients at Creative Artists Agency, prior to arriving at the Premier League in February 2016.

Ari Mark

Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships
Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium

Ari is entering his first season leading corporate partnership sales for the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium, a global entertainment destination and home of the Miami Dolphins; Miami Hurricanes; Miami Open; and Super Bowl LIV.

He oversees new business across a wide portfolio of sponsorship assets and events.

Prior to this role, Ari spent nearly a decade in global business development at the NBA, securing domestic and global sponsorships across the NBA, WNBA, G League and USA Basketball. He was key in negotiating partnerships with YouTube TV, MGM Resorts, and Marriott International.

Joanna Todd

Joanna leads the Maryland-based team that develops global partnerships and strategic alliances across all verticals including sports, music, film and financial services. In addition, her team is responsible for multicultural marketing.

Joanna’s prior positions at Marriott include vice-president, segment marketing, where she was responsible for the marketing strategy for key B2B and B2C customer segments including small business and sports, and global programmes and promotions.

Josh Empson

Josh Empson is a managing director of Providence Equity Partners, a global private equity firm focused on technology, media and telecommunications with more than $50 billion in assets under management.

At Providence, Josh focuses on media, with particular emphasis on sports and entertainment. He is a current director of NFL/PEP Ventures and of Providence’s new European football platform, as well as a previous director of Learfield Sports and MLS Media.

Prior to joining Providence in 2013, Mr. Empson was a partner at NantCapital and previously a managing director at Forstmann Little & Co. where he led several investments in media and sports, including the firm’s investment in IMG Worldwide.

Bob Caporale

Prior to founding Game Plan , Caporale had a substantial national sports and entertainment law practice representing professional sports teams, team owners, leagues and facilities. He was President and part owner of the Boston Breakers Football Club, one of the original twelve franchises in the United States Football League

Michael Goodman

Michael D. Goodman is a founding partner of Granite Bridge Partners, a private equity firm that makes control investments in lower middle market companies based in North America.

Mr. Goodman has spent his entire career focused on middle-market companies as a private equity professional, subordinated and senior lender. Prior to forming Granite Bridge Partners, Mr. Goodman was a Managing Director at Wafra Partners LLC, a middle market private equity firm that made control investments in the lower middle market; a Principal at Equinox Investment Partners, a private investment firm making mezzanine and non-control equity investments.

Prior to that he was a Vice President and Senior Originator of leveraged finance at Chase Manhattan Bank. He has an MBA from New York University and a BS in Economics from Cornell University.

Rick Perna

Having specialized in sports lending & M&A for the past 20 years, Rick brings deep transactional experience and high-level relationships across all major North American professional sports leagues such as MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS, and NFL as well as international leagues such as the EPL, Serie A, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga.

Rick has been recognized with a number of industry awards including the Chairman’s Award for ranking as one of the top 20 bankers in North America and Sports Business Journal Power Player in Sports Advisory in 2016.

Kevin Egan

beIN Sports

Kevin Egan is a Irish-American commentator and studio host, broadcasting with beIN Sports, as well as FOX Sports South calling Atlanta United games in Major League Soccer.

Kevin started in television back in 2004 with Ireland’s national broadcaster RTE on the Olympic Games, and progressed to cover soccer tournaments like the Champions League and the World Cup. In 2009, Kevin made the move to Chicago where he landed a job with the Big Ten Network, followed by the Chicago Fire. After three seasons broadcasting for the Fire in MLS, Kevin accepted a move to beIN Sports, based in Miami, to be a studio host / commentator.

At beIN, Kevin has hosted from the sidelines of the Camp Nou and the Santiago Bernabeu for El Clasico, and has led the network’s US Men’s National Team World Cup qualifying broadcasts. Kevin currently hosts the national network’s nightly soccer show called The XTRA.

Joe Barone

Giuseppe Barone, a Brooklynite at heart, migrated to the United States in 1974 from Pozzallo, Italy. Barone graduated from St. Francis College in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. At St. Francis, he was a four-year letter winner on the soccer team under legendary coach Carlo Tramontozzi. From 1989 to 2014, Barone worked for Banca Monte Dei Paschi di Siena New York; where he headed its treasury desk.

Barone is the founder of the Christopher Columbus Cup and the New York City Indoor Classic, events hosted by Brooklyn Italians Soccer Club, where he currently serves as a board member. He has been Chairman of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the largest established men’s national league in the United States, since 2013. Under his leadership, the NPSL has grown from 40 teams to 98 teams and the league’s alumni have gone on to play professionally in over 35 countries.

Barone has been the Senior VP at the New York Cosmos since 2015. Barone has also served on the Board of Directors of the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League and the U.S. Open Cup Committee.

Kevin Payne

US Club Soccer
Longtime general manager of DC United, Kevin Payne is one of the most respected figures in US soccer. Throughout a successful 25-year career, Mr Payne has been at the forefront of the most important changes in the North American soccer industry, having held c-suite positions since 1989.

He was a founding member of the MLS  Board of Governors in 1994. During his involvement with DC United, the franchise won the U.S. Open Cup, CONCACAF Champions Cup and the InterAmerican Cup, which helped put US club soccer on the map.

Mr Payne became US Club Soccer’s CEO in January 2015 and has also served on a number of advisory boards including the MLS Competition Committee, FIFA Global Committee for Club Football and the U.S. Soccer Technical Committee.
